This beautiful lace mermaid gown was the first dress I tried on. Many, MANY dresses later I returned to purchase this dress because the lovely deep illusion neckline made me feel sexy but fully covered; the back details including sparkle buttons kept me twirling in the mirror, and the scalloped hem and smooth but slightly flouncy drape of the skirt made me feel like a truly elegant bride walking down the aisle and dancing the night away.

Details: This gown features all-over lace in a "natural" (light ivory) color with a lining in "pearl," a very slightly darker ivory color that shows off the intricate lace detail. The gown is a fit-and-flare style: the hips are fitted and the skirt is between a mermaid and an A-line, which shows off your curves but still allows you to walk and dance with ease. Secure straps and a plunging illusion neckline ensure a flattering fit and a bit of drama while keeping you elegant and covered. It has a simple waistline and sparkle buttons on the back and a chapel-length train with a lovely scalloped lace hem. The dress has a hint of stretch which made this dress a joy to wear. It has two layers of lining for a smooth drape and a thin band of stiffer material sewn along the bottom hem for shaping.

Alterations: Alterations include nipping in at the waist, shortening the straps to accommodate a smaller bust, hemming with the original lace hem retained, and adding a lovely bustle for ease of dancing. Alterations likely brought this dress to about a bridal size 10 (street size 6-8) from the original bridal size 12. I was about 5 feet 5.5 tall, 140 pounds wearing a 2" heel when I wore this dress. I listed dress measurements post-alteration as provided by the bridal shop's expert on-site seamstresses and as documented on the original bill of sale, a copy of which I'm happy to provide on request.

Condition: This dress was purchased new from a bridal boutique and worn once. The original dress included a belt which I did not purchase and is not included in this sale (I don't think it needs it!). The dress was dry-cleaned immediately after use and has been stored securely in a smoke and pet-free home. On close examination, the following things were noted: 

• 1" tear in outer lace below left armpit
• some slightly loose lace on the left bust, looks like the seamstress cut and reattached it for tailoring
• two 3" tears where the altered hem connects to the original lace scalloped hem that was reapplied, where the two pieces of fabric overlap, at the bottom left of the hem
• very slight discoloration/dirt that dry cleaning did not remove right at floor along bottom left and right of hem

This dress provided an amazing start to a wonderful marriage and some great photos I treasure, and as my husband and I move to accommodate our growing family I look forward to another bride enjoying this dress as much as I did!
