For a timeless appeal that feels elegant and sophisticated, classic wedding gowns exude a grace and understated appeal. For the bride that is more MET than MOMA, these dresses feel timeless. Classic Wedding dresses are generally associated with a-line and ball gown silhouettes, though a well constructed sheath can also be classic. Not all classic gowns feel girly girl but bows are a common embellishment as are pearls. A slim fitting mermaid gown can classify as a classic wedding dress though you generally see strapless a-line and ball gowns with this style of wedding. The exception to this is usually lace dresses, which can read sexy, classic, or romantic depending on the thickness and patterning of the lace as well as its stretch profile, drape and of course, the silhouette. Thick satins, brocades and luxurious fabrics are associated with classic wedding dresses. Not known for trendy vibes classic wedding dresses feel timeless, not safe and can serve as a nice palette for which a bride to build her full wedding style out from.
